The HP Notebook 17 is a stylishly designed laptop. It has a plastic outer finish with a shiny HP logo on it. However, it makes use of a plastic rim frame around the screen. Though the plastic rim is not that great, it is okay for a budget laptop. Furthermore, the laptop measures 414.8 x 272.2 x 24.5 mm with a screen size of 17.3 inches. Moreover, its weight is pretty decent, considering its large size – it weighs 2460 g. Additionally, it has a silver covering with vertical brushed patterns and neat edges. It’s also not too thick, which is impressive considering it’s not an expensive laptop. However, it looks even better when opened up. It has a black panel with a surface standard notebook keyboard. This laptop also has a touchpad with multi-touch gesture support. It features an in-built CD/DVD drive as well. In addition, the laptop’s port selection is okay. Its port selections include 1 HDMI 1.4B, a headphone jack, 1 RJ-45, 1 USB 2.0, and 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1. Finally, the HP Notebook 17 is rated an 8 in this design review for its moderate but stylish design. Although, Its bad viewing angles can be annoying.

The HP Notebook 17 has the 8th generation Intel Core i5-8265U processor with a 6MB cache. This processor is capable of carrying out day-to-day computing tasks perfectly. Moreover, its processor is a quad-core processor that operates at a base frequency of 1.6GHz. However, this frequency can rise up to 3.9GHz with the turbo boost technology. Additionally, the laptop’s operation is very smooth. Its responsiveness and speed during computing operations are excellent. Overall, the processor’s hyperthreading technology gives it excellent efficiency in running CPU-intensive programs like HD video editing. Furthermore, streaming content on the internet is also incredibly smooth. Its 4k resolution support feature makes every experience worthwhile. Lastly, the HP Notebook 17 scores a 9 in my CPU review because of its fast loading time and response rate.
HP Notebook 17 Memory (RAM) Review
The HP Notebook 17 features 8 GB DDR4 RAM. With this RAM size, it can handle everyday operations smoothly. For instance, you can easily browse the internet and create and edit documents and presentation slides. With a speed of 2400 MHz, its RAM performance is efficient. It also multitasks well between Microsoft office, streaming HD YouTube content, and browsing pages. The laptop handled these operations without any hiccups whatsoever. However, you might not want to overload the system. Nevertheless, it is safe to say that HP designed this laptop for general performance. I rate this HP Notebook 17 an eight in my memory review because of its multitasking ability and good RAM performance.
HP Notebook 17 Storage Options & Performance Review
The HP Notebook 17 is equipped with decent storage of 256 GB Solid State Drive (SSD). Its storage space makes it good enough for an office or home desktop replacement. However, a large part of this drive is used by the operating system. After all, it has been preloaded with a Windows 10 64bit operating system. As a result, the 256 GB of space could be a bit insufficient for large software or game storage. Nevertheless, its storage is good enough. Moreover, the Solid State drives are faster than 5400 rpm drives. This laptop’s PCle storage is 15x faster than regular hard drives. HP Notebook 17 Graphics Performance Review
This laptop comes with an integrated Intel UHD graphics 620. Although its screen display is quite good, it doesn’t do exactly well with heavy games. This laptop lacks dedicated graphics. Therefore, its Intel UHD Graphics 620 is more efficient at running casual games. Moreover, the system’s performance is seriously affected when different programs are left running while playing games. Furthermore, the laptop struggled with barely playable frame rates while running Tomb Raider, even at its lowest settings. It tends to stutter and slow down due to its inadequacy. I give it a 7 in my graphics review because it only manages to run heavyweight games like Fortnight and PUBG at their lowest settings.
HP Notebook 17 Battery Life & Performance Review
The battery life of the HP Notebook 17 is estimated to last up to 11 hours during mixed usage. However, it was advertised to last up to 10 hours on video playback. Its long-lasting battery life ensures that you stay connected and productive for a reasonable amount of time. Moreover, with minimal usage, you should be able to get 7-8 hours of battery life out of it. Considering how large the screen is, it is not too bad. Overall, its battery life is good. It also takes just 45 minutes to charge it from 0% to 50%. The laptop scores an 8 for its good battery life.

HP Notebook 17 is a good budget laptop that offers an exceptional user experience while processing regular computing tasks.
